MUSHER Tom Einar Vang
Tom Einar Vang is a musher (dog sled driver). As soon as there is sufficient snow cover in the autumn, he starts offering guided dog sledding trips. The dog sledding trip takes guests around 6 km from his home through the wilderness to a camp. Here, guests are served a hot meal and coffee brewed on an open fire before returning to the kennel. Two guests share each dog team/sled, one direction as passenger and the other direction as musher. Dog sledding allows you to experience the landscape in an original way, while the contact with the eager dogs adds an extra dimension.

The history of dog sledding
Dog sledding has a long history among the Inuit people in North America, where many believe it originates from. The most reliable evidence dates back more than 1,000 years. At that time, fewer dogs were used than is the case today and the dogs were probably used to transport fuel. This efficient mode of transport has since spread to snow-covered destinations around the world.

Equipment - What do you need?
You can bring your own gear, or we can assist you. Bringing warm winter clothes is always a good start. It’s important to wear wool as your innermost layer and windproof clothing as your outer layer. Mittens are better than gloves. If it’s very cold, you need to take extra precautions!
